About Us

We all need some space without boys around sometimes! At Brownies, girls can just be themselves; making friends, learning new skills and having fun.

Brownies can participate in a wide range of activities in our weekly meetings, and at special events, day trips and outings. They can find themselves trying out arts and crafts or recipes, playing energetic games, taking part in community action projects, shelter-building or trying out circus skills! Brownies can also extend their knowledge and abilities by working towards Brownie interest badges covering many different hobbies and activities from Science investigator to World Traveller.

Brownies are part of the Girlguiding Family. To be a Brownie you must be aged between 7 and 10!

Garrett Hall Brownies started in October 2002 and we began with a pack of 24 girls filling the places immediately with a waiting list of our own. Since then we have extended our pack to 30 as we continue to be very popular with the local girls!

We meet every Wednesday 6pm till 7.45pm each week during school term-time in the school hall where we make things, play games, sing songs and have lots of fun!

All of our brownies are split into small groups called "Sixes" in which they can make new friends from different age groups. Each of the "sixes"  has a name; Imps, Leprechauns, Gnomes, Elves, Kelpies and Sprites, all in which have a team-leader called a Sixer, usually a more experienced brownie and a Seconder who helps her.
